The YIMO envisions to empower young seafarers and maritime professionals, including fishers, shipbuilders, and marine scientists, through seafarers advocacy and youth maritime empowerment, enabling them to join in steering the helm for our shared future.
Share the power to shape the future of shipping through meaningful youth maritime empowerment across the board until onboard; Develop leaders able to represent youth in maritime forums, policy discussions, seminars, and roundtables, at national, regional, and international levels; Facilitate peer-to-peer learning and collaborations among young seafarers, fishers, shipbuilders, scientists, and other maritime professionals; Engage industry stakeholders and the general public with the ultimate goal of attracting and retaining talents within the industry through seafarers advocacy.
We strive for youth in maritime of all nationalities, gender, and religious beliefs to have ACCESS to opportunities that foster youth maritime empowerment. Our focus includes seafarers advocacy, ensuring that young individuals are equipped with the necessary tools through: Advocacy and Policy Influence, Community and Global Outreach, Career and Education Guidance, Engagement and Volunteerism, Skills Development, and aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
