Initiatives and opportunities for the youth in maritime

The Ocean Centres is a long-term initiative designed by the UN Global Compact’s Ocean Stewardship Coalition and Lloyd’s Register Foundation to support companies, governments and other stakeholders in emerging ocean economies to identify and address safety challenges related to infrastructure and people. 

The Nautical Institute - Younger Members' Council (YMC) is a body of expert individuals under 36 drawn from our global membership and tasked with coordinating the comprehensive representation, support and promotion of early career maritime professionals, cadets and students.

It meets quarterly to advance its ambitious programme of outreach, webinars, events, written articles and more, and to help make the latest developments in the industry relevant and accessible to those starting off their maritime careers.

Expressing interest in ECOP Philippines, the national node of the United Nations Ocean Decade-endorsed Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOP) Program. 

The ECOP Programme is established to empower ECOPs, who self-identify as being early in their career in any field related to the ocean. The Programme is at the heart of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, and it was endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade as a network program in 2021.
